Studio / Performance

My studio and performance work explores popular culture, consumerism, appropriation, signage and mythology through historical and contemporary art narratives. These explorations challenge originality, meaning, and appropriation through parody and irony. In some cases, utilitarian objects are used to enhance those challenges by distorting and disrupting physical surfaces, space, and balance within my work. The ultimate outcome is to challenge subjective meaning and objective form while serving a deeper meaning beyond an aesthetic realm and/or material function.
