Tipi Pop-Up

Tipi Pop-Up | 2024 | Dakota Crossing on Highway 10| Sisseton, South Dakota

The New Old Art Collective (NOAC) organized another juried pop-up exhibition and this time the pop-up was held in native tipis from the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe. The Tipi Pop-Up was held in August on the property of the Dakota Crossing/Buche Foods on Highway 10 in Sisseton. The Tipi Pop-Up was open to ALL current members of the NewOld Artist Collective (NOAC) and those interested in joining NOAC. Artists were encouraged to create new works but existing works were also accepted. There was no particular theme, however, artists were encouraged to consider the surrounding site, cultural influences or impact, and unity within the community. Only one piece of art per artist was selected to be exhibited.

Tipi Pop-Up has been supported by: The New Old Art Collective, Dakota Crossing, Sisseton Arts Council, Nis’to Incorporated, and the South Dakota Arts Council. A special thank you to Dustina Gill’s extended family for helping to set up and break down the tipi’s.
