The idea of The NEW Old Artist Collective was the brain child of the Sisseton Arts Council and four local artists: Nicholas Blake, MJ Derhak, Dustina Gill, and Alexis Monroe. The vision of The NEW Old was to promote, celebrate, support, and bring together local artists to various conventional and unconventional exhibition opportunities throughout Sisseton.
The New Old Artist Collective had its first pop-up exhibition at the Soiree 417 building on Veterans Boulevard. The theme and curatorial arrangement of the exhibition is eponymous to the name of our artist collective itself. It was left this up to artists to interpret the meaning in any which way they would like.
The NEW Old is a collaboration with the Sisseton Arts Council, Sisseton Chamber & Promotion Board, South Dakota Arts Council, and Arts Midwest. Thanks to committee members who helped make this event possible: Nicholas Blake, MJ Derhak, Dustina Gill, Alexis Monroe and Markus Tracy. Special thanks to the Soiree 417 owners John and Mary Christopherson.
