Quilt Mural

Quilt Mural | 2015 | acrylic on plywood | 8‘ x 24’ | Morgan County Archives Building | Decatur, Alabama

The Quilt Mural was a visual narrative highlighting the historical, cultural, environmental, and social landscape of Decatur, Alabama. Students from three elementary schools participated in choosing colors for each section of the Quilt Mural. Along with choosing the colors, students also helped to paint each of the sections of the Quilt Mural. During one weekend, the Decatur community, to include students from the Alabama Center for the Arts, showed up to help paint the Quilt Mural. Once the Quilt Mural was completed, it was installed on the outside wall of the Morgan County Archives Building on Bank Street in downtown Decatur.
