The City of Las Vegas helped to organized one of the first art and cultural festivals in downtown Las Vegas. The festival was called the Gateway Arts and Music Experience (G.A.M.E.). As part of the festival, the City of Las Vegas planned a series of murals. The first of those murals was the G.A.M.E. mural. Even though the G.A.M.E. festival ended in 2001, it had a profound influence to what would evolve into First Friday and the creation of the 18b Arts District.
